Facility

Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center is currently located in a leased 3,000 square-foot free-standing, 2-story Victorian home built in 1891, located in the historic district of downtown Statesville.  We occupied this facility in July of 2002, completely gutted and refinished the interior with community volunteer labor, product and services, only spending a total of $8,000 for all renovations, furnishings, etc.  We are within 2 blocks of the Courthouse, DA’s office, Sheriff’s Department, and the Statesville Police Department (two of our four law enforcement agencies in the county).  The Department of Social Services is less than two miles from our facility.  The facility’s interior was designed specifically for the purposes of Dove House activities, complete with an MDT room, electronically-equipped interview room, fully functioning medical exam room complete with a MedScope for documentation of physical evidence, family room, a kitchen stocked with refreshments, etc. – all decorated in a whimsical, child-friendly manner.
